How to clean a JPG

  1. Drop one or many JPG files above.
  2. Review what was found: camera model, date taken, software, GPS and more.
  3. Choose whether to keep the photo rotation. Keeping it avoids a sideways photo and holds no personal data.
  4. Download each clean copy, or all of them as a ZIP.

Questions

What is EXIF data?

EXIF is information that cameras and phones store inside a photo file, such as the camera model, the date and time, the settings used and sometimes the GPS location.

Does it reduce the image quality?

No. The tool cuts the metadata out of the file without decoding or re-compressing the image, so the pixels are identical to the original.

Are my photos uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything runs on your device, and the tool does not download any extra files to process your photos.

Does removing metadata reduce image quality?

No. The tool removes the metadata blocks from the file without re-compressing the image, so the pixels stay exactly the same.

Why keep the photo rotation?

Phones often store a photo sideways and use a rotation tag to display it upright. If you remove that tag, the photo may appear rotated. The rotation tag holds no personal information, so keeping it is safe. You can turn it off.

Does it remove the data from the original file?

No. Your original file is not changed. You download a new, cleaned copy.

Which files can it clean?

JPG, PNG and WebP. Other formats, like HEIC from iPhones, are not supported yet. Convert them to JPG first.
