How to check
- Drop your photo above, or choose it from your device.
- Read the tags under the photo. Items in red are the most sensitive, such as GPS location and serial numbers.
- Open See what was found to read the details, like the coordinates and camera model.
- Download a clean copy if you want to share the photo without that data.
What the colors mean
- Red: personal details such as location, serial number or author name.
- Orange: information that can identify the device or the work behind the photo, such as camera model, date taken or software.
- Grey: technical details with little personal information.
Questions
Is my photo uploaded to check it?
No. Everything runs in your browser, so the photo stays on your device.
Does checking change my file?
No. Your original file is not modified. You only get a new copy if you download one.
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs on your device, and the tool does not download any extra files to process your photos.
Does removing metadata reduce image quality?
No. The tool removes the metadata blocks from the file without re-compressing the image, so the pixels stay exactly the same.
Why keep the photo rotation?
Phones often store a photo sideways and use a rotation tag to display it upright. If you remove that tag, the photo may appear rotated. The rotation tag holds no personal information, so keeping it is safe. You can turn it off.
Does it remove the data from the original file?
No. Your original file is not changed. You download a new, cleaned copy.
Which files can it clean?
JPG, PNG and WebP. Other formats, like HEIC from iPhones, are not supported yet. Convert them to JPG first.
